Terms of use – QRead.cc

Last updated: October 14, 2025

Welcome to QRead.cc (“Extension”, “Service”).

By installing or using the QRead.cc extension, you agree to the following Terms of Use.

1. Purpose of the Service

QRead.cc is a browser extension that allows you to read QR codes directly from your computer screen — safely, locally, and without the need for a camera or mobile phone.
All QR code processing happens entirely on your device, with no data, images, or links sent to external servers.

2. Permitted Use

You may use QRead.cc free of charge and for personal purposes, in accordance with applicable laws and these Terms.

You may not:

  • Modify, distribute, resell, or incorporate QRead.cc into another product without permission from the developer.

  • Use the extension for illegal, fraudulent, or harmful activities.

  • Decompile, alter, or interfere with the extension’s source code.

3. User Responsibility

You are responsible for:

  • Verifying the safety of links obtained from QR codes.

  • Using the tool responsibly when opening links or visiting external sites.

Although QRead.cc may help detect potentially unsafe destinations, it cannot guarantee that all links are safe.

Always proceed with caution when browsing unknown websites.

4. Data Collection and Processing

QRead.cc is designed to operate locally and privately.
The extension does not collect or transmit QR codes, screenshots, links, or any personal data.

However, to understand general usage patterns and improve the reliability of the extension, QRead.cc collects anonymous technical events, such as:

  • When a scan starts, completes, or fails;

  • The selected reading mode (screen or active tab);

  • Non-identifiable device or browser data (e.g., extension version, operating system type, language).

These events contain no QR code content, URLs, or identifying information, and are used solely to improve performance and fix technical issues.

5. Updates and Modifications

QRead.cc may receive automatic updates through the Chrome Web Store to fix bugs, enhance security, or improve functionality.

Continued use after an update implies acceptance of the latest version of these Terms.

6. Limitation of Liability

QRead.cc is provided “as is”, without warranties of performance, availability, or suitability for any specific purpose.

Under no circumstances shall the developer be liable for any direct, indirect, or consequential damages resulting from the use or inability to use the extension.
